ABOUT
This apartment is a manifesto of industrial aesthetics translated into a cozy domestic environment. The project was designed for clients with an artistic spirit who are not afraid of raw textures and bold design choices.
My goal was to escape the sterility typical of new builds and infuse the space with soul and history. By stripping away the unnecessary and exposing the structural elements, I created a home that resembles a New York loft rather than a standard apartment.
CONCEPT
The concept centers on the honesty of materials. Instead of hiding the structure, we turned it into the main protagonist.
The Brick: The strongest accent is the living room wall, where the plaster was intentionally “torn” to reveal the natural brick underneath. This “unfinished” effect creates dynamism and a textural contrast against the smooth walls.
The Wiring: The electrical system is not concealed but exposed externally, featuring black cables and retro switches. It acts as a graphic element that “draws” lines across the walls and ceilings.
The Concrete: The ceiling was left as exposed concrete, which visually increases the height and adds a raw, masculine character to the interior.
PROJECT
Living Room & Kitchen: The open-plan space is zoned via the flooring. The kitchen rests on geometric black-and-white tiles that transition seamlessly into warm wooden parquet in the sofa area. The design features the studio’s signature “sage green,” but here it is combined with matte black elements (refrigerator, tall units, and rails) to achieve a more dramatic look. A dining table with industrial legs and gray chairs visually unites the two zones.
Corridor & Details: The hallway has been transformed into a gallery of technology. Black wiring conduits descend the walls in a strict rhythm, terminating in a row of retro Bakelite switches—a detail that connoisseurs of old factories will truly appreciate.
Graffiti Children’s Room: The child’s room possesses a distinct “street art” character. An entire wall is dedicated to colorful space-themed graffiti, introducing energy and a sense of rebellion to the interior while dialoguing with the exposed air conditioning pipes and cabling.
CONSTRUCTION
Although the interior appears effortless (‘raw’), its execution required surgical precision.
The Plasterwork: The effect of the ‘distressed’ wall was hand-sculpted to appear natural, with the edge between the brick and plaster carefully treated and sealed to prevent dusting.
The Electrical Installation: The surface-mounted wiring leaves no room for error. All cable runs were leveled with laser precision, and the black fasteners were installed at equal intervals, transforming the cables into a perfect geometric grid.
